Gentle facial cleaning product January 12, 2009

Today I will share with you a recipe to make your own facial cleaning product. It is very gentle for the skin, but efficient and very easy to do.

You will need:

- 1 cup oat flakes (natural not flavored)

- 1/2 cup hot water (but not boiling)

- 1 tbsp liquid glycerin (or honey)

How to:

You have to mix all the ingredients together and process them until you obtain a creamy texture.

You pour the mix in a clean, sterilized container of your choice and keep it up to 2 weeks in the fridge.

To use it, you just have to take a bit of the “cream” in your hand and gently clean your face with it, then rinse well with clear water and that’s it!

For additional anti-aging properties you can add 1 capsule of E Vitamin or wheat germ.

Use it twice a week for a nice result and post your comments here!

Oil for baby massage December 3, 2008

Here I will talk about baby massage!

I strongly believe that massage your baby is a great experience for both you and your child.

You can do it easily, no need to have a degree in massage therapy!

You can do it beginning with baby legs and feet and then drawing rounds on his tummy, and also the arms and hands.

Babies love when you massage the palm of their hands!

You can begin baby massage the first month, it can be a great help to relief stomach pain on your new born or help baby relax before bed time. It can definitely become a wonderful bedtime routine.

For a better quality massage, you can use a product to smooth your baby skin. Several options are available:

- a baby lotion or cream; I don’t recommend it for a massage, as it don’t last a lot in your hand.

- a baby oil; be careful as the commonly named baby oil is made out of petrol and is not healthy for the delicate skin of your little one. Definitely not a good option!

- make your own mix using natural oil. That is my favorite option and here I have my recipe!

OIL FOR BABY MASSAGE:

- apricot kernel oil

- jojoba oil

- coconut oil

How to:

You will need to pour the oils into a recipient of your choice.

You have to use :

75% of apricot kernel oil

20% of jojoba oil

5% of coconut oil

And that’s it! Enjoy!

IMPORTANT: to avoid any allergic reaction, before using an oil, you should try a little bit in the inside part of your baby’s arm and wait 2 days. If there is no reaction then proceed to use the oil.

If you don’t know where to find these oils, here I have a great resource!

This is a web I like, they sell all kind of aromatherapy supplies including the carrier oils, which are the ones we need for that recipe!
